About Sonkist Australian Shepherds

Sonkist is a small kennel located in Southern California owned by Heather Hawkins.

Heather has been involved in Aussies since 1990, when she obtained her first aussie, a
blue merle male named Tyler (Country-Way's Beau Monde, akc CDX, asca CD, NA, CGC.
Together. Heather and Tyler trained and trialed in obedience, agility, and jr handling.

After Tyler retired due to health problems, she purchased Cooper in 1999 (AKC/ASCA CH
Calais Skors of Options, DNA-CP, PT, CGC) from Terri Morgan and Selena Poplin. After
finishing his championships, Cooper was limitedly specialed and ended the 04/05 show
year as ASCA Merit Dog #27, and 05/06 ASCA Merit Dog #17 and was invited both years to
the ASCA National Specialty Conformation Invitational.

Carlie (CH Calais In Tune With Carolina, DNA-CP) arrived in 2005, also from
Terri Morgan and Selena Poplin. She finished her ASCA Championship in February 2008
with three 5pt mjrs and a 3pt mjr, three BOW, and two BOS wins. She has returned to
Calais & Carolina Aussies for her first litter, due late May.

In 2007 we were blessed with a very special boy...Tucker (asca CH Calais Carolina
CallMeClassic, akc mjr ptd) is our gorgeous red merle male from Terri Morgan and
Selena Poplin. He is by HOF ASCA/AKC CH Carolina Bayshore Birdcage and out of ASCA
CH Calais Carolina Mustang Sally (05/06 #1 ASCA Merit Dog and winner of 2006
Conformation Invitational). He is a BOBp and multiple BOSp winner, finished his ASCA
Championship at 11 months of age, and at 1 year of age he now has 13 AKC points (3mjrs).
He will not be shown AKC again until the April 2008 USASA Natls in CO.

2007 also brought the arrival of Cooper's first litter, out of ASCA CH Hisaw's Hi Altitude
At Winsome, DNA-VP. "Static" gave us ten beautiful puppies in April 07, of which we kept
our pick puppy, "Gracie." After a successful puppy career with numerous BOBp wins, by
the age of 10 months with limited showing she now has 10 asca points...earned in one
weekend with back-to-back 5 pt mjr wins. We're thrilled with her early success and look
forward to presenting her at the ASCA Nationals in Vegas in the bred-by class.

Emmi (ASCA CH Carolina Calais On The Fly, akc mjr ptd) joined Sonkist in late
2007...THANK YOU to Terri Morgan, Selena Poplin, and Elizabeth Stibley for sending
her to California!!! Emmi went WB at a pre-show and WB/BOW at the WI ASCA Nationals
in 2006 to finish her Championship, and won the Open Black Bitch class at the 2006 USASA
Natls. She is mjr ptd in AKC and will be specialed in ASCA in 2008/2009.
We have high hopes for Emmi...watch for her in the ASCA and AKC rings!!

Heather has competed with and titled dogs in obedience, agility, and junior showmanship
and garnered multiple High In Trial and Best Junior Handler awards. She had a privilege
of coaching Andrew Martin, multiple 500 club member and RJH winner at 2005 ASCA
Natls. In addition to handling her own dogs, Heather also shows client dogs in
conformation competition and gives handling lessons.

You'll also find Heather running two home-based businesses: Sonkist Designs - offering
website design and maintenance, brochure, business card, and ad design services.
Heather is also a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant.
